Isaiah 7:14

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).

Courses

We run a variety of courses in St Mungo’s Youth, some of these are outlined below:

New course starting on Monday 11th September – The Search for Significance (S4-S6)

Performance, popularity and the packaged self – how much do we all clamber for these?  Come and discover where our desire for significance can really be met.

The Me I want to be >> becoming the best version of you (S4-S6)

There is a God (it isn’t you) Your life is a project (it isn’t yours) The real you is waiting (it isn’t hard)

Underneath the ‘me’ you pretend to be (the one that acts cool while fearing you’re not) and the ‘me’ you fail to be (the one that doesn’t always get excited about life) you will discover something remarkable…come and find out what it its!!!

Youth Freedom in Christ (S4-S6)

If you want to grow in your faith, deepen your relationship with God and set yourself up for a life lived with God then this course is for YOU!

When you become a Christian, you become a brand new creation – the old new is gone and you’re a brand new you!  Previously you were a ‘sinner’ and now the Bible describes you as a saint!  It’s a bit like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.  It used to be a caterpillar but now it’s a butterfly!  It used to crawl around but now it can fly!  It’s not the same anymore, it’s different!

However, although the truth is that once we’ve become Christians we are new creations, we don’t always feel like that and we don’t always act like it.  Although we’re butterflies we can still think and act like caterpillars and can find ourselves crawling around when really we can fly!

When you became a Christian no one hits a reset button in our minds so we can find ourselves getting caught up in old habits and old ways of thinking (we all do it!) that can hinder us growing and maturing as Christians.

This course is about helping us to discover the lies that we believe about ourselves and learning the actual truth!  Once we know the truth it starts to effect how we see ourselves, God and others and has a real impact on how we live our lives and on our relationship with God.

The evening starts off with dinner.  After dinner we have teaching, group work and discussion.  Apart from being a great opportunity to get to know yourself better, it’s also a great way to make some friends!

Theology Course

Sometimes even your cell leaders can get stumped with your questions……come along for a chance to stretch your understanding and hear biblical answers to our more difficult questions (delicious home baking will be provided).

Questions Course

Ever wondered what it is exactly that Christians believe, or how on earth they can believe it?  We will look at questions like……

“But, how can you believe that…there is a God?…….Christianity is the only way to heaven?…..God is good despite suffering?…… is at work today?

This course runs once a year, during the Autumn term for 4 weeks, where we have discovery, discussion and delectables!!  (delicious home baking will be provided).

Romance Academy

Romance Academy (for S5 & S6) is a nationwide sex and relationships initiative run by Christian youth workers which focuses on building and maintaining healthy self-esteem leading to healthy relationships.  We have just completed a 4 week course, based on the series released on BBC.  Watch our website for when the next one will be running.
